Introduction

The following video clips depict some of the sport world's best coaches -- not necessarily for their winning records (although most of them are good) nor their brilliant knowledge of their sport... I chose these coaches because they exhibit characteristics of great leadership. Through my preliminary research on the coach-athlete relationship, it has become clear that mutual respect and an authoritarian coaching style are imperative. It's not just about winning--sport coaches teach their athletes how to be better people. The following coaches don't belittle their players, or feel the need to have a team of all-stars to be successful. They understand what it takes to be an outstanding coach.
